Club Meeting
July 13, 2007

President Doug Blum presided over a lively
meeting and a great turn-out

with District Governor Ken Moulton and his
wife Pam,

and Assistant District Governor
Gene Marcinkowski and his wife Carolyn.

And we were honored with this delightful
couple, visiting from Austria.
Jeff Watts met them taking photographs in the area, and invited them to lunch.
That's the Rotary Spirit!

There was a wee bit
of shenanigans
with the head gear,
but Cliff's new cap
found it's rightful place.

Lunch was delicious and kept us busy, but not
too busy for R.C.'s good humor.

You can tell ( just from the amount of
paperwork Steve is holding ) that Finemaster Carnes
really strained our brains with his quiz on the accomplishments of women in
sports.
Joel winces with the pain, and Mary laughs at the merciless questions.

He even tortured the head table. But in
the end, it was a great success,

with all the cash finding its way into Howard's basket.

Doug announced
the Board's presentation of a grant to the
Action Network,
which Janet Kukulinski accepted on their behalf, with our hearty
congratulations.

ADG Gene brought the news that our 2008
District Conference will be held in San Francisco,
and after some very entertaining stories,
introduced our speaker with great enthusiasm.

DG Ken and Pam brought a program filled with
information and inspiration,

reflecting many years of deep commitment and accomplishments for Rotary.

The District Governor presented the "Quiet
Rotarian Award"
to our own paparazzi for her work behind the scenes.

At the very end, Howard presented our speakers
with a
huge abalone shell, and a bag of golf balls....
his secret weapons in making friends everywhere he goes!

And visiting Paparazzi Pam
added some glam!

As we walked to our cars when the party was
done, a daisy border sparkled in the sun.
They seemed to smile & sway and to share the fun, for this delightful meeting
was really a great one!
Club Meeting
July 6, 2007

As the gavel passes from Dick to Doug, we
heartily congratulate
both Rotarians for their dedicated good works and leadership. Bravo!
Bravo!

President Doug Blum took the helm with a
steady hand, clear vision,
and a charming new "nuzzling" approach to the Happy Pig!

And the gang cheered him on!

R.C. walked us through the numbers in his
Treasurer's report,
and Howard described his second "Hole in One" for his favorite sport.

Mary had a BIG surprise! She told us she
had missed the Kick Out Party in order to attend
a bachelorette party that night, and that it was for HER....
And she MARRIED her long-time Love!
Congratulations!!
Then Jeff announced a marriage in his family too, as he
proudly told us that his son was wed!

Profiles in Courage: New member John
Forenti, and frequent visitor Fritz from Napa.

The Finemaster quiz involved a personal
journal, famous quotations,
a bit of teasing the boys, and a lot of fun silly stuff.

This Rotarian came armed with the classic club
passport.

Paulie Johns was our featured speaker, with an
animated presentation on
the Tutoring Program, how she founded it, and keeps it thriving
with the help of many dedicated volunteers and worthy students.

Her presentation gave us a glimpse of all
that's involved,
and she provided photos of some of the Tutors & Students.

Dedicated volunteers are the life-blood of the
tutorial program,

forming one-to-one tutoring/mentoring
relationships

to open up new worlds of possibility for our
local students
and guide them towards a bright future.
Thank You Paulie!
And all the Volunteers!
