Fundraiser -- October 7, 2006
"Jazz on Harrison Avenue"

Harrison Goldberg, on sax, brought us music by
"Harrison Avenue" and it was fantastic,

Richard Cooper at the piano, Steve Hanson string
bass/percussion, and Scott Foster with guitar
...for listening, and for dancing!

The Gualala Arts Center filled to the rafters
with fun.

Silent auction items were in the foyer,

And Joel Crockett was Master of Ceremonies,
and
Auctioneer for the Live Auction and Raffle.

The paella buffet & tapas,
prepared by award-winning Chef Shirley Ranieri
of the Top of the Cliff, was outstanding,
the
volunteer bartenders were splendid,
and the dancing was lively.

What a treat it was to hear the Mendonoma Idol stars
again!
Ellen Buechner thrilled us with numbers
throughout
the evening, sitting in with "Harrison Avenue"
with her masterful sultry voice that
delighted the crowd.

Haidi Hatfield sang "I Will Always Love You."
Powerful, riveting, and straight from the heart.

Don Krieger was our SuperHero accompanist, awesome at the
keyboard.

Haidi, with Hanne, just one of many happy fans.

Keelyn O'Brien was absolutely stunning.

And her parents were on hand to share the pride that we
all feel, for our Local Lass with total class!

When the crowd wanted a performance from Joel, he
couldn't refuse,
and his son Jason, and brother Jeremy cheered him on,
as he gave us
a spontaneous and spirited version of
"I'm Going to Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter."

The party was so much fun that even Harrison had to put down his saxophone
and take a
turn on the dance floor with Merilyn.

At the appointed hour,
loyal Rotarians started cleaning up,

while the action kept
going on the dance floor.

As a wonderful party wound down towards a close, the snuggling began in earnest...

and finally broke out into full-fledged smooching.

And then, in the magic of a heartbeat, suddenly the night felt quite young
again!!
